One of my best friends is having a baby soon, and reading this just made me think of how much we need to teach our daughters, friends, siblings, everyone really. These don't just apply to your daughters. I think everyone could learn from these.
ten things mothers should teach their daughters That confidence and independence are beautiful. That size doesn't matter, but wasting her time worrying about it does. That brilliance should never be downplayed. That emotions are liberating so she should go ahead and laugh, cry or scream. To always have enough money to pay her own way, but to be gracious when someone else treats. And to be generous with what she has. To not make age an excuse for her actions. That "mean girls" are really just insecure. That she has an amazing power to make a difference in life. To actively pursue her dreams especially those that seem unattainable. That the love she will give and receive is limitless.

Yesterday my sister gave me a bunch of chocolates that her friend had given to her. My sister explained that her friend(who is 13) doesn't like junk food anymore! Crazy right? When I was 13 I would have done anything for a chocolate bar.. anyway, I asked my sister why her friend doesn't like junk food and she said it was because for lent her and her mom gave up junk food and since then she hasn't wanted to eat any. It made me think about how nice that must be, to not like junk food. I'm sure I'd feel a lot healthier. So, I've decided that as of today, I am taking a junk food break until after my last exam(which is April 24, I think). That means no chips, chocolate, baked treats(my mom is opening a bakery this summer and is trying out a lot of new recipes, so this will probably be the most difficult thing to avoid), and pretty much anything that loaded in sugar/bad fats, etc. My plan was to actually start yesterday.. but I just ate 2 cookies, they just looked too good. I figured that if I wrote this down where anyone could see it, I would be more likely not to give in to temptation. It's probably not going to be easy at first, clearly, but I'm hoping it will get better. Also, this is not a diet. I already eat very healthy and exercise regularly, and am at a healthy weight. It's just an attempt at a healthier way of living. photo cred; http://sodamay.deviantart.com/
can't you see that it's just raining(or snowing like crazy here)? there ain't no need to go outside. snow day = early start to march break!
I had been craving pancakes for a while.. and so I could either make my own or just eat some waffles from the freezer to satisfy my taste buds. I found an amazing recipe for vegan banana pancakes.. I think I'm in l♥ve. I changed the original up a bit because 1) I didn't have any vanilla soymilk.. only plain. & 2) I wanted something chocolate-y as well.
Here is my tweaked version:
TIME: 15 minutes, start to finish MAKES: 2 to 3 servings 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour 1 1/2 tablespoons honey 2 teaspoons baking powder 2 teaspoons cinnamon 1 cup plain soymilk 3 tablespoons brown sugar 2 tablespoons coconut oil 1 ripe banana Pinch salt 1/4 cup chocolate chips +Spray vegetable oil for the frying pan
put everything into a bowl and blend together. heat up your pan, spray it with vegetable oil if you don't have a non-stick, and cook to perfection!

it would have been even better if they had looked like these..
